Were were honored that one of Ohio's Best Distillery's gave Legacy of Honor an opportunity to pick our own Single Barrel Selection. Single Barrel selections are very popular and hard to obtain especially for small organizations. The fine folks at Middle West valued our mission of supporting local first responders, active military, and veterans and offered us the opportunity!
On September 23rd the Pick Team, consisting of the winner of the package and local first responders traveled to Columbus to choose Legacy of Honors First Single Barrel Pick. They had the opportunity to tour the Middle West facility, learn how whiskey is made, sample whiskey right off the still and taste through three different samples to pick their favorite. The team unanimously eliminated sample #2 pretty quickly. After that it became much more difficult to narrow it down between sample #1 (Barrel #201) and sample #3 (Barrel #219). In the end it was Barrel #201 that was voted on as the pick. The team felt it was sweeter and smoother and are sure anyone that tries it will love it! It is over 5.5 years old and was aged in a 30 gallon barrel. The 30 gallon barrel imparts more flavor in a shorter period of time compared to a 53 gallon barrel. The folks at Middle West state because of this, this whiskey tastes more like you would expect a 7 year whiskey to taste. There will be limited quantities as it is only 1 barrel and it will be cask strength and not proofed down at all.
Tickets are $90 and that will get you entry to our Single Barrel Release Party on 11/19/23 at The Barrel Room in North Canton Ohio. With your ticket you will receive 1 sealed bottle of our Middle West Spirit Single Barrel Pick to take home, snacks will be provided and The Barrel Room will have their bar open to purchase from their awesome selection of bourbon's and wines.
There is also a first responder discount code (firstrespondercheers) that is good for ALL local active and retired Fire, EMS, Police, Dispatch, Corrections and Medical Personnel! This promo code will take $10 off of your ticket as a way to say thank you for all that you do for our community.
